Summary:
This evaluation exercise was aimed at investigating the impact of the use of mobile telephony monitoring and reporting of teacher and pupil attendance in 100primary schools in three districts of Uganda.
Results from this study informed key decision makers in the education sector in Uganda on the practicality of the approach, any cost efficiencies achieved, and the feasibility of scaling up the use of GSM and GPRS technology in tracking teacher and pupil school attendance.
Our partners were the Makerere University College of Computing and Information Science; the Ministry of Education and Sports along with District Local Government.
