Summary:
In 2014, Interface Consulting together with M&E Associates Ltd provided expertise services to the Ministry of Water and Environment on the development of water supply systems in Wakiso, Luwero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts. The purpose of the project was to increase access to safe water through improving the capacity of water supply and sanitation systems already in place. Willingness-to-pay surveys, on-site inspections and detailed feasibility studies were carried out in order to educate the design and construction supervision phase.
The construction and supervision phase began in 2016 with focus on Katuugo-Kakooge towns in Nakasongola district. Within the scope of works, the consultant is required to: perform detailed inspection and testing of the works to ensure compliance with contract requirements; certify satisfactory completion of works and; design and implement a capacity building programme for selected WSDF-C officials and design a management and operation system for the water supply system among other activities. Supervision of some of the contractor activities include; supply, laying, testing and commissioning of 30.971km of distribution mains pipework and supply and lay of intensification pipework based on service connection demand. This phase is slated to run for 10 months.
